Overwhelmed

Ransom is well over 2 weeks old now, and I get asked on a daily basis, "How are you doing?" The answer to that question is I am overwhelmed.

I am overwhelmed with love for my sweet little boy, who I still sometimes doubt is really mine.

I am also overwhelmed with love for my sweet husband, who has reacted to fatherhood with amazing gentleness and protectiveness.

I am overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of people, not just family and good friends, but people who hardly know us.

I am overwhelmed with the weight of responsibility that comes with being a mother, but I am happy to finally feel it.

I am overwhelmed by the difficulties of nursing a very lazy eater.

I am also overwhelmed by the blessings that God has provided our little family. We have been given a beautiful, healthy little boy, who I cannot wait to watch grow into a Godly man.

  1. The funny thing is, Evelynn will be two in just about a week and I would describe my days with the same word..."overwhelmed." It is a glorious, wonderful, feeling, but all the same, a daunting task raising a Godly child, and surviving the daily tests given to us to sharpen both ourselves and them. Oh motherhood...
