Ransom is not quite 6 months old, but the Pediatrician has given us the go ahead to introduce him to some first foods. One way I am trying to be a intentional parent is to give Ransom a healthy variety of food from the very beginning. Hopefully, I will inspire a love for ALL foods, and will not have a picky eater on my hands. I also want to make sure that he gets all the nutritional value he can out of food, and so I have begun making his baby food from scratch.
See my handy-dandy Magic Bullet?
Now, some might say that is a lot of extra work for something that I can buy out of a can, but I counter that the food I make my sweet boy has no artificial preservatives and is made from fresh produce, so I know exactly what I am feeding my boy.
See how much prettier and nutritious food looks freshly made...
So far, we have made green beans, carrots, pears, peaches, broccoli, zucchini, sweet potato, peas, mango, and an occasional mashed up avocado.
Here is our current stock pile in the fridge...
Plus, it's really not that much extra work, and I really have fun doing it.

What a good Mommy you are! He will be a healthy boy with such good food to eat.
ReplyDeleteRansom was such fun at lunch with the girls last week - he is a doll! Love to you all, Michelle
So fun! You should consider freezing them in ice cubes...this way, you can make larger batches of food and give him the portion he needs as he grows bigger. My friend freezes them a little thick and adds the amount of water necessary for that "stage." That way when they are bigger, it isn't too runny for them. Where are you getting your produce (frozen, fresh, from someone's garden, etc.)? It looks gorgeous! By the way, you will LOVE your magic bullet once he gets to eating what the family eats from the table. Stick some spaghetti in that thing and push down a couple times, voila, supper is served!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! My son's 8 months and I've been making his food from the start and I love it! I love making it and I love knowing that I'm providing the best nutrition for him! Keep up the good work!
